Summary
Consistent P&L comes from consistent process.
The pre-market ritual
Professional traders don't wing it. A tight 30-minute pre-market routine typically includes: check overnight news, mark key levels on the day's watchlist (3-5 tickers max), review the economic calendar for the day's macro releases, and set the day's risk budget (dollar max loss).
The mid-session discipline check
Every hour, one 60-second gut check: Am I following my plan? Have I taken any trade outside my rulebook today? Am I within my risk budget? If all three are green, keep trading. If any is red, close the platform for the day.
The post-close review
Twenty minutes at the end of each session: log every trade in the journal, tag the setup, note the emotion, and screenshot the chart at entry. Fast enough to sustain daily; deep enough to compound insight weekly.
The weekly ritual
Every Friday close, calculate the week's per-setup expectancy, note the biggest emotional violation (there always is one), and set the next week's single behavioural goal (e.g. 'no trades in the first 15 minutes').
Streaks are edge
Every day you follow the process is a rep. TradeHQ's daily challenge and streak system exists specifically to convert intention into habit.
